If I were a Billionaire

If I were a Billionaire
Here’s a post to get you thinking and is part of the challenges Im setting, just think about if i were a billionaire and then what you would do with that concept. It is something I suppose we all give a measure of wishful thinking to it, but have you ever really considered it?
As some of you will know, I have spent some years thinning down my life and possessions (not my weight) after chasing the dream of ever bigger houses and more and more things. When I went into a mobile home, my actual possessions filled a storage container floor to ceiling and front to back, I mean jam packed. There was no danger of mice, they would never have fit in. Over the five years or so I have lived here I have thinned that out to family heirlooms and what I consider precious possessions that have memories attached. Inside my mobile, its busy, I have my computer and clothes and mainly books and dvds that are what I feel that define me. I could not bare to exist without books. I could but would not wish to in any shape or form. Actually there isn’t much left that you may call a lifetime’s ownership.
The actual things I figure people might immediately be drawn to are these:
House
Car
Electronic Equipment
Holidays
Work
Charity
Let us examine the house, of course this is subject to your circumstances and if you are in a family relationship. For me, my thoughts are these. Flat, no gardening, no maintenance, don’t need multiple rooms. That thinking is fine if you are single and not limited on funds, but we changed the game by elevating your thinking to billionaire status. For me then, it would be a lovely large plot of land with no neighbours, I would build a 2/3 bedroom bungalow with these additional rooms, a study for reading and computer, a games room, for snooker, darts and games, a TV room, a luxury bathroom with jacuzzi spa, a steam room/sauna, a swimming pool, a gym/martial arts studio. Outside there would be a double garage, plenty of parking and tended gardens with different areas to play on the senses with plenty of seating and summer rooms, any trees would be located towards the outskirts of the boundaries. Make a note here, I don’t want to do the gardening or house maintenance, or even cooking. Pay someone a decent wage to do all of that and a chauffeur for when you want to have a drink. I’d very much enjoy all of that, but the original flat would suit me. Im just playing what if.
Everyone wants a car they don’t have to worry about, the servicing, the mot, the parts maybe even the fuel. Where I live currently the winter becomes difficult so I would be looking at multiple cars with a billionaire budget. Im very much passionate about the Jaguar or Aston Martin brands. I think if im here it would be a Jag I-Pace, elsewhere Id probably go with the Jag XJ and maybe a convertible XF. I’d definitely look at getting a custom Aston Martin DB5 built with modern tech, such lights, power steering, slightly roomier for me. No I would not consider a supercar, what is the point on modern roads?
Electronic equipment, OK OK, this isn’t great for a spiritual life but it is for an easy life. Here goes:
Big arse TV with sound system (more on sound than TV)
New Apple phone
New Ipad
Iv got a computer Im happy with but would get a fibre optic deal and maybe a Sky Q subscription
Air conditioning, for the two days a year its unbearable, that would go right through every room in the house.
For me personally, Im a lover of watches, an Apple watch, a sports watch, a lovely heavy beautiful watch.
So what would you do about holidays, I think, I’d go for a world cruise (great deals at the moment) and clear as much of my bucket list in one go, then top up the list and make a plan to hit two or three a year.
Work is an interesting one, I believe we all need something in our lives, whether it is just company or diversion. Im getting to the stage where Im less inclined to work, but maybe as a billionaire, Id invest in my friends and be like a business angel, helping within my skill sets and changing their lives.
Charity is so very important in my life these days especially after having been a mason for such a large portion of my adult life. There are such great charities that will always deserve thinking about. Look out for ones with high administration costs. For me, what I would like to do is set up two centres with very different areas:
1/ would be an activity centre for the mentally or physically disabled people. (I do not know if that is a good definition these days, if it isn’t there is no malice in my heart) This would be run by professionals with a range of activities and supportive animals and staff. The aim would be to create smiles.
2/ I would love to be involved with a charity for mental health and more particularly male mental health. It is a subject very close to my heart and one I feel that has low awareness and is coupled with an inability for males to be able to discuss their mental health.
Id like you to give this some real thought, and the practicalities, is there anyone in particular you would want to help, would they accept help. Would you change (apart from those material possessions)? Iv surrounded myself with people that are positive and loving and I would hope to be the same kind of arsehole as I am now. Caring, kind and sarcastic. Could you say the same?
