Does Music Move You

Does Music Move You?

It is a great question “Does Music Move You“? I am going to give it due thought and process.

Many of my friends are indeed music lovers across a wide genre of music, and if you don’t know me well you may be surprised to know it does not interest me in the slightest. I do not hear what you hear. Let us look at that, I grew up with music regularly playing in the household, my parents always played their country and easy listening music, especially on a Sunday. My brothers and sisters always played their own music, which was very varied. I listened to a lot of Elvis in my early years and I suppose I liked King Creole. I have since discovered that the music connects to a film and the story, I suppose in the way you may get attached to a piece, for a first dance etc. The only way it seems to sink in is repetition, I cannot in all honesty ever remember the words. I feel like Im not really connecting to them in any way. TikTok, plays things repetitively and the sound sinks in, I never remember the title or the words.

You have already heard me saying how I detest live music because of the interference of background noise. I guess Im just not that into it. But it does seem to add value to the films, I would love to hear a film without a music soundtrack (I don’t mean sound only soundtrack) to see how that changes my enjoyment of the film. I quite often go to shows and you will say ah ha, let’s say it is a dancing show, Im not listening to the music, other than connecting the dance to a beat pattern. If you asked me about the music after, I wouldn’t even remember that well, this applies to some of the music through the ages Iv been to with my dad.

When I really try to meditate on the whole subject, I can come up with this:
A deep bass or beat does register and is pleasing to me, so shamanic/Native American/African does bare listening to, only in that it assists my mind to hit a meditative state, I suppose like you may reach listening to your preferred music.
Another type of music that does register with me, and I have no idea how to define it, is Clannad type music. I don’t know the classification and I cannot figure out why it holds an interest to me.

There were sounds that I danced to as a late teenager, such as Salt N Peppa but I can’t even remember most of that now, it is only that I have a collection of music and it rang a bell. Today, I would far rather listen to a podcast on a subject of interest such as:
Social Media
Printing
Spirituality
Martial Arts
Quantum Theory
These subjects interest me, and I take every opportunity to listen, so music generally only plays when I have company in the car or if I know guests might be interested. A rather interesting aside is Im most happy in isolation with no sound, so an isolation tank, or as close to silent as I can get.

Here is a bunch of questions Id like to know about you, on the question Does Music Move You? They are:
What type of music is special to you
Is there a special song/lyric that tells a story
Do you react to the sounds of music
Is there any music abhorrent to your ears
