My Musings

Things I Need Less Of

Things I Need Less Of

There are many things I need less of in this world, and it is a good exercise to stop and consider, actually, what those things really are. My initial, top of the head thoughts are:
Negativity
Nastiness
Weight
Meat
Computer Technology
Sickness

For some while I have been removing people from my immediate circle (and facebook) who have even a slight negative bias. It is toxic and you can’t understand the physical and mental toll it actually does take on you, putting up with it and trying to reason with it. If you have tried and know it is a problem, then let it go.

I have never been in favour of nastiness or evil. Im not certain about the definition of evil. How can the world be inherently evil? You do not see it in animals, you see instinct and training. It actually takes more effort to be nasty to someone than it does to be nice. Besides which, you get the plus effect of a returned smile if you are kind to someone. It does not cost you anything so make an effort to do the better thing. Take time to consider how somebody might appreciate your call or gift, but do it selflessly, with no thought of what you might get in return. If you do that, you have wasted the gesture.

In my world, Im overweight, yes I know I see it, and I understand it will impact on my health. I cant see it changing, regardless of thinking I want to. To do so requires an acceptance of me and how I got here. Something I struggle with mostly. When I say I still find it difficult to be here its true. Cannot understand the why, I realise there is a why, and Im ok, lots of things keep me grounded, but on balance I feel a stronger calling to not be here. Very difficult to explain in words. Most of you wont know that in my early teens I was the fittest puppy ever. Nothing was impossible. The joke was, I still wasn’t happy. There was a big hole in my life even then, when I did lots.

Meat! This is an interesting one, I think Im heading towards vegetarian, I enjoy vegetarian food much more than meat. Though Im not sure I could go all out vegan. I am much more conscious of any food I eat, and Im happy to be thankful for it. Overall though I think my body settles and reacts better to vegetables.

I recognise the rise of technology and do indeed welcome the advantages it brings. Im happy to have a phone and computer. Im against it taking precedence over everything else. For instance, being in a beautiful place and feeling the need to capture it through a lens and ignoring the best parts. We all do it, Im suggesting, maybe, cut it back a little. I went to the Grand Canyon, such a magnificent place, impossible to quantify in words, I took loads of photos. None of them captured the grandeur of the real thing.

Last one sickness, is rather tongue in cheek. Of course we would like less sickness in the world. Whilst it’s not pleasant and a horrible thing, I remember the words that God does not do imperfection. So, whilst I do not understand I am happy to believe we get sick according to a divine plan. Lots will argue, one of things I hear is oh why that person and not this person. Who can judge, the why, and the who? Perfection is not meant for us, it is God’s will alone. You will note I mention the word God a lot. In the modern age, it has slipped from our understanding and many people whilst saying they are atheist, simply have not given it due thought. Im happy you believe in whatever you want, just give it thought, think it through, if you believe in nothing then question the why. Do you believe in the sun rising each day, there will be something you can rest your faith with. For me it is a power greater than my human form. I bow to that power.

There are many things I need less of in this life, what do you need less of in yours? Bills, debts, family? Let me know in the comments. Lov ya xxx
