My Musings

British Military Fitness Part 11

Was not looking forward to tonight, to be honest, my legs were still in agony after Monday’s British Military Fitness session. Nobody saw today, but I needed to work behind a machine feeding paper and it required getting down low in a squat position and I got very stuck, had to drop to the floor roll over and pull myself up with the machine. A colleague Les, walked by, but I couldn’t ask him to exert maximum energy to lift me up, he would have had a heart attack.

So, my legs were hurting, and all advice said get along and ten minutes in you will be fine, well ten minutes before facebook flashed on my phone, the squat tastic Josh was leading the session tonight, this after I had called him a pussy at the boxfit earlier. As I walked in, he smiled and said “BOXFIT”. I knew that was me done.

So the warm up was as nasty and devilish as always, and he wanted to work these things called pistol squats where you stick one leg out in front of you, horizontally and then squat down on the other, maintaining balance, and then coming back up and down the other side, Absolutely hideous, especially wearing my walking boots, put another 50lbs on each leg at least.

There I am absolutely cream crackered and we then partner up and have to do these tricep extensions, which were fine, up until the 30 second mark, then the pain kicked in, after which we had to do tricep dips, which were double nasty.

It was windy, and I mean real windy, running against the force of it up the top of the field meant I was standing still. It was cold icy rain which made the mood miserable, and I simply could not get my breath, just the exercises had done my cardio again, how do they do that? It wasnt the hardest session but it certainly left me with some pain and I am certain my legs are going to know it tomorrow, so I will plan my journeys up the stairs accordingly.

Interestingly, we were put on a flood warning for tomorrow where I live. I think I should be OK but if it floods early morning, it might be interesting trying to get out of the road.
