Mental Health
Mental health However still the surface looks, you cannot conceive of what goes on below, so it is with mental health. People look like they are together and ok, yet scratch the surface and they begin to fall apart very quickly. The sadness for me, is that most people are unable to talk about these deep issues for fear of judgement or being made fun of or even being seen as crazy. If you are physically ill, there is no judgement to be made, but mentally, well that is another story. It’s all in your head, pull yourself together, cheer up, what is the matter, you have plenty to be…

Living with Pain
Living with Pain Last few years for me have been an eye opener for Pain and the living with pain that follows. It started for me in my earlier days of martial arts and being very sports active. You know, the doctors say, it great to be active, then as you get old and vertebrae wear and suddenly the doctors are saying, “well, exercise is good in moderation”. The pain of the bones grinding makes you think about suicide. I know, it sounds dramatic, but truly, the relentless pain takes your mind to weird places. I was prescribed in my early thirties such a strong dose of medications that I…

If I were a Billionaire
If I were a Billionaire Here’s a post to get you thinking and is part of the challenges Im setting, just think about if i were a billionaire and then what you would do with that concept. It is something I suppose we all give a measure of wishful thinking to it, but have you ever really considered it? As some of you will know, I have spent some years thinning down my life and possessions (not my weight) after chasing the dream of ever bigger houses and more and more things. When I went into a mobile home, my actual possessions filled a storage container floor to ceiling and…

Meditation
My musings on Meditation We are all subject to doing meditation, most of us attempt to consciously meditate, whilst others deep in concentration on their passion fall into an unwitting meditative state. I think this is why I loved the martial arts so much. You get so involved in the doing and everything becomes engrained into your being that the mind becomes free. There are such interesting diverse thoughts on what meditation is and how you do it. If you try too hard are you are not meditating? If you are going to try and meditate, here are a few pointers, there are no absolutes, everyone is different, so what…

Things I Wish I Knew
Things I wish I knew There were many things I wish I knew at the age of 16. I have decided that I must force myself into journalling, writing down things that are recountable. My memory has got worse lately, I put it down to large doses of medication over the last ten years, but equally, it could be down to the ability to not focus on my thoughts and random things that pop into my brain. For now, I am going to write these mind musings down, then jump into the things I wish I knew. I beg your patience with me, as I haven’t developed a style or…

Spiritual Photo Submission
Spiritual Photo Submission Im seriously asking for help in this spiritual photo submission. I have lots of friends who are talented with a camera and have an interest in spirituality. You may also know that I have created a personalised wrapping paper printing company, confined for now to the UK, that isn’t to say my American friends can’t submit. Consider the broad category of spirituality and how it may be used in the creation of some personalised wrapping paper. Id love to use imagery from my friends and so Im asking you to email me here and send me your pictures with a subject line spirituality. You must have the…

It Is Your Fault
It is your fault, what is? You may well ask. Here goes. I believe we all have the right to free speech, provided always that it falls within the bounds of human decency. If you believe in the right to free speech then by extension you have to believe it is my opinion and equally you have the right to agree or disagree with it. Sadly, we are brought up with the concept of having to be right and trying to convince others to fall into our thoughts and accept them as the new gospel. Recently, I listened to a great podcast by Sam Harris with special guest Ricky Gervais called…

My Musings on Corona Time
Since Corona Virus or Covid 19 Lockdown, I have to say, I have completely lost all sense of time and reality. What has made it so difficult to bare is the negativity of a large portion of the nation and the negativity of the media on corona time. During the writing of this piece I will be using profanity, not because I am barely literate, rather the words tend to sum up my feelings with the appropriate attitude. I cannot see what more the government could do given the speed of infection. To offer furlough for PAYE and percentage of earnings for self employed is simply magnificent, but of course…

Strictly My Views Part 9
Back at Strictly Towers we have another night of dance to behold. First onto the floor was Kellie dancing a Salsa, and whilst I agree she did a reasonable job, she didnt quite have the style to my liking. The judges however seemed to like it, and I feel this is where they influence the public by their comments. Katie danced the Argentine Tango, and it shows how you can be lucky on the night, this was a perfect dance, for her and her legs. The outfit was awesome and I think, she did a great job. Helen dancing the Vienesse Waltz was a great dance for her, her style…

Strictly My Views Part 7
Before we start, we must first express our sadness at the events over Friday, and the devastation left in its wake. Too complex to begin to fathom the whys or where fors. But let us hope that the bereaved find peace soon. It does show an irony to the Friday the 13th. That date being called unlucky due to the round up of the knights templar many years ago. And so onto the Strictly Night of Dance, the prelude to Blackpool. We kicked off with Anita and Gleb dancing the Quickstep. A really good effort absolutely packed with content and talent. I enjoyed this dance immenseley and felt they did…
