    British Military Fitness Part 12

Here we go for British Military Fitness, part 12. I could not post on Monday night, as I was so physically knackered I simply could not do it. Before I go into it, Im not certain if I mentioned since my last weigh in on Thursday Im down half a stone. Im very happy with that, feels like I have done equally well this week, so we will see what is happening on Thursday morning. The session was taken by Josh, you know the one who has a real fascination with doing squats and running up the worst bit of the field. Im actually not kidding when I say, the…

    British Military Fitness Part 11

Was not looking forward to tonight, to be honest, my legs were still in agony after Monday’s British Military Fitness session. Nobody saw today, but I needed to work behind a machine feeding paper and it required getting down low in a squat position and I got very stuck, had to drop to the floor roll over and pull myself up with the machine. A colleague Les, walked by, but I couldn’t ask him to exert maximum energy to lift me up, he would have had a heart attack. So, my legs were hurting, and all advice said get along and ten minutes in you will be fine, well ten…

    British Military Fitnesss Part 10

Here we go then people, British Military Fitness Part 10, before we do that, I am pleased to report my weight this week is X-3lbs, so a 3lbs weight loss. Im happy with that. Tonight we had, I think his name was, Mark. There were whispers that perhaps it might be an easier session. I’ll be honest I was very dubious about that, these guys are experts at causing pain and laughing in the process, even worse they somehow manage to get you to affirm how much you are enjoying it. “Are we having fun?” “Yea of course we are, thighs screaming, lungs gasping and arms burning. Well so much…

    British Military Fitness Part 9

Second day of the week out for British Military Fitness, and it looked like it was going to rain today, I wasn’t hopeful on waking up to -2 deg in the mobile, so I figured it was going to be a hard session. Tonight was Andy’s session to run, it is a lottery for that, you turn up, never knowing what you are going to get, a bit like Forest Gump! He hit the spot anyway by saying it was going to be boxfit, something I had particularly been looking forward to trying my hand at. The instructions were very clear, partner up and do not try and hit the…

    British Military Fitness Part 8

It is the start of a new year, 2015 and my first session back to British Military Fitness. Very nervous again, because of the christmas break, not because of overeating, in fact, I didn’t tuck into food much at all, bar one day. The rest of the time have not really felt up to it. No, I was nervous because I still have the remnants of a cough, and my ribs are really hurting like they have been digged, when I used to do kung fu training, and they were the easy target.   It was Josh taking class tonight, he is the one, I was ill after last time,…

    Its my Birthday

Its My Birthday! Its my birthday, ok maybe not today, but definitely tomorrow. I felt that being the case I might reflect on my year. A time to be thankful for my life. Obviously, you all know that we went through our separation in May, a stressful time to be sure. However, I got to reconnect with my boys whom you know are very important to me. They love where I am living as it is more like a holiday camp to them. Clearly they haven’t been here during the cold season yet. I got to find my masonic friends who have dug deep to help me through the dark…

    Self Service Checkout

Self Service Checkouts So what is it with a self service checkout? Am I the only person that hates them? Or am I just blowing smoke? Let us start at the beginning, as that is usually the best place. The ‘Supermarkets‘ decided it would be very helpful if they could provide a self service checkout, that allowed us to scan our own products and pay and leave. A perfect idea! I never want to engage with a bored checkout operator who cannot be bothered to smile in a customer facing role, and generally have the manners of cave men. Both men and women, young and old. So initially this all…
